60th anniversary of the 1953 North Sea floods

This week sees the 60th Anniversary of the North sea floods, which occurred on the night of 31st January / 1st February 1953, affecting large parts of the Netherlands and England. Remembrance services are being held in many places across both countries, including Zeeland and Canvey Island, the worst affected place in the UK.

In the Netherlands, Delft University of Technology will be presenting a new 3D exhibition on the 1953 floods.

Radio Netherlands Worldwide has this programme available on the 1953 floods.

In the UK, there are a series of programmes and articles on the BBC to mark the anniversary, as well as this ITV programme. (Some content may have regional restrictions.)
