Typhoon Hagupit nears Philippines

Typhoon Hagupit (called Ruby in the Philippines) has now intensified into a Super Typhoon. It is due to make landfall Saturday evening local time, affecting many of the same areas which were hit by Typhoon Haiyan a year ago.

HaguputAlthough slightly weakening, it is expected to bring heavy winds, rain and a severe risk of storm surge. (PAGASA bulletin.)
